the murder of a mystery

Thursday, November 12, 2009 0
the synopsis: Lacey Kringel agreed to host the Annual Holiday Block Party again for the fifth year in a row. The neighbors strolled over and kicked off the festivities with appetizers and an hour full of challenging trivia and a hilarious Elf and Reindeer dance contest. With the exception of a few scuffles between neighbors that had sorted histories, the party was entirely fabulous as usual! The neighbors got the party rolling by enjoying a delicious meal and a super sweet competition. The great food mixed with exciting challenges got the guests into an enjoyable, holiday spirit. Then, the neighbors were completely shocked when a murder victim was discovered! The neighbors decided to quickly investigate whodunit! So the frantic murder investigation ensued! Following intense interrogations and analysis - including a forensic analysis done quickly as a personal favor - each neighbor accused who they believed the murderer was over a delectable dessert and hot drinks.

our causes

Rather than spend money, time and wrapping paper on unwanted -- though funny -- white elephant gifts, we have chosen to give back to our community through four causes that are close to our hearts. We encourage all attendees to bring a gift that will be oh so much more appreciated than an electric nosepicker or crossword puzzle toilet paper, even though both gifts, I'm sure, have come in mighty useful in the past year. Please see the sidebar to the right for each cause's wish list. See below for a description of each cause.

a. CARE no-kill animal rescue. saves area dogs and cats by giving them a place to sleep until an adoptive family can be found. As of Nov. 1, CARE has adopted out 674 dogs and cats in 2009.

b. Our Student Ministry's MCU, or Mobile Church Unit. allows the student ministry of Ridgecrest Baptist Church to take our church into the community. In the last few months, the MCU has allowed the ministry to meet, feed, talk about Christ and cheer on hundreds of area teenagers.

c. Grand Oak Mission. gives food and clothing to those who qualifty.

d. AIDS Project of the Ozarks (via our Lighthouse Ministry). serves more than 600 clients infected with HIV/AIDS and their families.
